Our Island Home

Mabul Island is the heart of our work and the place we call home. SEAS is based at Scuba Junkie Beach Resort on Mabul Island, where conservation is embedded into day-to-day operations rather than treated as a separate activity. This close relationship allows research, monitoring and practical conservation work to take place alongside responsible diving and tourism.
By living and working on Mabul year-round, and in close partnership with the Scuba Junkie team, SEAS has developed a deep understanding of the local marine environment and the challenges it faces. Our conservation work is grounded in long-term presence, local knowledge and strong relationships with the island community, helping to protect both Mabul’s reefs and the people who depend on them.

Our SEAS Offices

Scuba Junkie Liveaboard KLM Eliya

Scuba Junkie Liveaboards operates KLM Eliya, a traditional 30-metre Phinisi launched in 2024, offering multi-day dive expeditions through Komodo National Park, Raja Ampat National Park and the Banda Sea. Purpose-built for divers and handcrafted in Sulawesi, she combines classic Indonesian design with modern comfort, exploring remote islands, dramatic reefs, manta and shark encounters, and some of the richest marine biodiversity on the planet.

Scuba Junkie Kota Kinabalu

Scuba Junkie Kota Kinabalu on Sabah’s west coast is a dive shop offering day trips to the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park. As well as fun diving, they also carry out a variety of conservation activities including reef and beach clean-ups, and ghost net removals.

Scuba Junkie Komodo

Scuba Junkie Komodo is located in a beautiful bay about 1 hour boat ride south of Labuan Bajo. The resort was built with an eco-conscious mindset and the staff regularly assist the Marine Megafauna Foundation and Manta Trust in gathering manta sighting data for www.mantamatcher.org.

Scuba Junkie Sangalaki

Scuba Junkie Sangalaki, located on Derawan Island, carries out engagement activities with a local kids club, Anak Peduli Pantai, as well as assisting Whale Shark Indonesia and the Marine Megafauna Foundation in gathering whale shark sighting data for www.whaleshark.org and manta sighting data for www.mantamatcher.org. We also have our Whale Shark Week and Manta Week celebrations here.

Scuba Junkie Penida

Scuba Junkie Penida is on Nusa Penida, an island which is short boat ride away from mainland Bali across the Badung Strait. Nusa Penida is more than just home to the beautiful reefs, year round manta rays and seasonal Mola-Mola. The island is HUGE – It has beautiful beaches, views to the mighty Mount Agung on Bali mainland and has a stunning cliff coastline. The island is home to sacred temples, awe inspiring view points and adventures all-round.
