Day in the life

A typical day as an intern

Breakfast is served at the resort between 5:15 to 8:30am each morning where you can enjoy a buffet style selection of local and western breakfast options.

The internship programme will start up around 9:00am each day, typically with a classroom presentation to learn more about the marine environment and conservation. The mornings are also a great time for independent studying to build on the knowledge you have been learning or working independently on a project.

Lunch is from 12:30 to 2:00pm, at the restaurant and is served buffet style with local food options and a tasty soup.

For the afternoon (and sometimes late mornings), the aim will be to get hands on with various activities including one or two dives to put the new knowledge to practice. The day could be wrapped up with some data entry or cleaning up from the day.

A buffet style dinner, also with vegetarian options, is served from 6:30 to 8:00pm. The evening can be spent relaxing, visiting with staff and guests or adding on a night dive when available.

Rest day

During the week, six days are allocated to Internship activities and one day is set aside as a rest day. Interns are encouraged to relax around the resort, visit the local village on Mabul or are even welcomed to work on their own projects or initiatives while here.

Accommodation

During your internship, you will stay at the eco-friendly Mabul Beach Resort run by Scuba Junkie. The internship package is inclusive of accommodation in a mixed gender 4 bed dorm that has fans. If you wish to upgrade the accommodation at an additional cost to one of the other options at the Mabul Beach Resort, please inquire for cost and availability.
